First Pizza Entry(Thin Crust)

PIZZA PLUS   (4102 SW Hwy, Hometown)

The first official pizza of the blog is a very good one. Pizza Plus is located in Hometown, which is on the outskirts of Oak Lawn and Chicago. We went with a thin crust pizza with all sausage and half spinach.

This pizza was very enjoyable. The sauce was sweet. The cheese was gooey. The spinach was very fresh and they did not hold back. The meat was tasty. It had the crispy edge while the middle just melted in your mouth. Excellent!!!

The place is very reasonable money wise. I ordered some french fries which were very good. But, I leaped out of my skin over how good the breaded Mac bites were.

I had the pizza delivered. My drink of choice with the pizza was soda.

THE ZOMBIE CORNER

The Zombie Corner will feature all sorts of zombies and zombie related stuff. The Walking Dead is a very popular conversation when you’re sitting on your bar stool. Everyone has a few people in their lives that they discuss the show with. These conversations lead into what you would do if a zombie apocalypse took place. Donald Trump is our President and the Cubs won the World Series so anything can happen. I’m hopeful we can come up with a plan just in case that happens. We can answer all the questions that are frequently asked.

Where would you go? What would be the weapon of your choice? What food would you miss during a zombie apocalypse? Do you have anybody you would throw at the zombies to escape?  Obviously you want all your family and friends if you could, but which ones do you think would be able survive and help you at the same time through the zombie apocalypse? Where do you think a safe haven would be? We have lots of questions and we probably miss lots as well. I think my knights around the Barage bar and I can help get some answers to these questions and help you survive the world of zombies trying to eat you. We will also discuss zombie movies from the past and present. It’s anything zombie in the Zombie Corner.

Last week in Walking Dead, Eugene was enjoying a jar of pickles while playing Atari’s Yars’ Revenge.

What video game would you enjoy during a zombie apocalypse during your down time?

What food would you eat while playing the video game?

My answer for food is Potato Chips.

My video game would be Blades of Steel for Nintendo

I would pick Splatter house for Sega Genesis to get me pumped up before I went outside to kill zombies for that day.

HERE’S JOHNNY

Welcome Back Kotter!!!  The Black Hawks make a move before the trade deadline and welcome back former teammate, Johnny Oduya, back in the fold. The Blackhawks sent prospect Mark McNeil and a couple draft picks to the Dallas Stars to acquire Oduya.  Johnny has only played 37 games this year due to some injuries. He has only scored one goal while tallying six assists this year when he’s been on the ice.

They say defense wins championships in sports and the Hawks bring back a guy that helped them win the cup in 2013 and 2015. It’s not a splashy move, but it’s a solid move that will strengthen the defense. In the past, the Hawks went to the playoffs very thin on the defensive front. These moves give you depth at that position and this might be a year they are the strongest at that position.

With the Blackhawks salary cap, it is very hard to make a huge deal. Stan Bowman has went down this road before, last year by trading for former Blackhawk, Andrew Ladd. That deal did not make or break the Hawks. But they probably thought they might catch lightning in a bottle and get more production out of Ladd.  The Blackhawks have solid goaltending. They have plenty of offensive fire power as well. This move will improve the whole team.

Oduya is a great teammate. He is a scrappy player that does all the little things that are not in the stat book at the end of the game. He might only be a rental player, but if he helps you snag another cup, it will be worth it. What I love about the move is he already has chemistry with the core players on the team. I think he did not want to leave the team when he became a free agent a few seasons ago. I think the Hawks wanted him, but with the salary cap the way it is, they could not afford him. This season has been a down year for him, dealing with injuries. Now being traded to a team that has a chance to win the cup. Plus a team you have played on for several years. That will give somebody a different mind set and it can give the Blackhawks more energy to continue the red hot streak they already on.
