IF I ONLY HAD A BRAIN

I feel like the little old lady in the old Wendy’s commercial saying “Wheres the beef, the beef?” when it comes down to the Bears receiving core.

We have all bun no hands. Last year we saw Josh Bellamy, wide open, drop a ball against the Titans in the end zone from Barkley. Which cost the Bears a win by the way. In week one of the 2017 season opener the same scenario occurred. Bears are driving and Mike Glennon makes a great throw and rock hands drops the ball. Maybe they keep Bellamy around for special teams as that might be his specialty. Why is he even in the line up at the end of the game? Many reasons.

You draft a quarterback as your first pick in the draft, a definite position you want to upgrade. However you got hosed by the 49ers in giving up draft picks just to move up one position to get Mitch Tribisky when you could of had him if you stayed put at number three. Extra picks could of went for a position called the wide receiver. Before that you overpaid for quarterback on the free agent market in Mike Glennon. Love you are trying to upgrade your quarterback position that has killed the franchise forever but it’s like getting a sports car and parking outside on the street instead of in a garage. These guys need someone to throw to instead of Rock hands in crucial parts of the game.

Time to cut the ties with Kevin White. How many times will you keep hoping that he stays healthy enough to play more than a few games a year? I know he is a first round draft pick but the man should have the word fragile stamped on his uniform. Handle with care as the white wine flute is tackled and has cracked his stem and is out for the year again. He has never showed me anything. He catches the ball and is immediately tackled. No yards after the catch. “You are the weakest link good bye…”

Your number one receiver gets hurt in Cam Meridith and you do not do anything. LA Rams traded for Sammy Watkins in the preseason. Buffalo was able to get Matthews from Philadelphia. Pick up a phone. Text another GM. I think if I was another team I would gladly wheel and deal with Bears as they probably would give the cow away for some beans so that might not be the best thing. The Bears rely on the dollar bin. Cruz did not work out. Kendall Wright is a nice pick up. But he is not a number one receiver. You cut Tanner Gentry and were very lucky no other team picked him up. Tanner would of caught the ball instead of Bellamy.

When the Bears made the trade for Jay Cutler it was the same situation. It took a few seasons to surround the guy with some weapons. Now with Mike Glennon behind the center everything he does is under the microscope because Mitch is waiting in the wings. Glennon’s first start in years and first start with the Bears kind of reminded me of a Kyle Orton performance. He made no mistakes. He relied on the running game with a short passing game to move the chains. He had an 86.8 QB rating in which he was 26-40 for 213 yards and one touchdown. However people are focusing on his pocket presence which he did take some sacks. Would Mitch have been better? He does have the ability to use his legs and get out of trouble and also can throw on the run. If the Bears had won this game against the Atlanta Falcons, who almost were the Super bowl champions last season, would the conversation have been different about Mike Glennon? Maybe only for a week as everyone is dissecting his game. They are looking for anything as they slice him open like a frog in the biology lab. Because Mitch is the future. Shame on the Bears for not getting these quarterbacks proper weapons. Glennon’s performance was not exciting off the chart like. But it was better than the opponent running for a winning touchdown off a stupid pass to cost you the game. If the Bears only had a brain. Time for the Tin Man to take over the operations instead of the scarecrows we have been used to all these years. No wonder they are the franchise in Chicago that have been on the longest streak from winning a title.
