PRISON BREAK

When it comes to the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers, it has been a one sided affair. Green Bay has owned the Bears. Sure the Bears got lucky on a Thanksgiving and stunned the Pack that year. Even the year they took out Rodgers, the Bears managed to win the game. Bears fans can count on their fingers how many times we beat them over the years. While Green Bay fans know it’s a easy win on their schedule. If you ask people from Wisconsin who their rival is, they will tell you it is the Vikings. They say it’s the NFL’s best and oldest rivalry. the Bears and Packers. I would agree on oldest, but best no way, it’s been one sided since 1980’s. That’s when the Bears won the decade over the Packers. You have to go way back in time when these two teams played each other regularly when both teams were evenly matched up. When both teams fought each other for every yard on the field. When both teams spilled blood and whatever team bled the least, won the game.

This week with the warden out of the game and most likely out for the year, the Packers find themselves doing hard time. The Bears have been doing life with no parole it seems for years. Jay Cutler, Kordell Stewart, Henry Burris, Cade McNown, Jonathan Quinn, and then Mike Glennon are a recipe for a chain gang, not a leader of a football team. While the Packers trot out Farve and Rodgers for decades and go to Superbowls and make the playoffs almost every year. While the Bears hibernate for the playoffs in their cells.

Could this be the week where the Bears finally turn the tables? The Bears are favored to win this weekend over the Packers. When was the last time this has happened? When Ronald Reagan was in the White house? Maybe in 2006 when the Bears found their way to the Super bowl? The Packers are coming to Chicago. The Bears have played very well at home this season. The Bears are coming off a bye week while the Packers just played the Lions on Monday night. The Bears defense has been playing tough this year as they held the Saints high power offense to only 20 points. But the biggest difference in this game is we have a better quarter back in this round. Mitch Trubisky has been getting better every week since he took over for Glennon. Meanwhile Brett Hundley has not been very Packer like.

This game could be the get out of Green Bay Packer jail card. We know Rodgers will return next year. If the Bears win this game Sunday and Mitch Trubisky is a big part of that win, it will grow the young quarterbacks confidence. Then you still have multiple games left on the schedule this year to continue to grow and play with a higher ceiling of confidence. By the time next season rolls around, maybe the Bears front office will add the weapons needed for Mitch Trubisky to throw the ball down field and have guys that can catch the ball. Rodgers is getting older. Former QB Tony Romo broke his collar bone. He came back then to get injured again which then Dallas already made another plan at QB. Tony played one more game and could of played with another team but chose to retire and head to the broadcasting booth. If Bears win on Sunday, perhaps you can mark this game down as the inmates have taken over the prison as the Houston Texans owner likes to call his own players and the league. The Rise of Trubisky and the fall of the Cheeseheads.
