NFL WEEK 16 POWER RANKINGS DONE THE WILD SHAMROCK WAY

No, the New England Patriots did not make a uniform switch. However I noticed Red stormtroopers yesterday in the new Stars Wars movie. I was thinking they were special stormtroopers. Stormtroopers that were promoted. No they still have bad aim when the fire their weapons. Hoping you don’t get hit by one of their laser shots as we roll out WEEK 16, Stormtrooper style.

The snow stormtroopers in my opinion looked the coolest. Plus the white armor makes sense because they are in snow. Everywhere else these stormtroopers go, they stand out. No wonder the Evil Empire has fallen so many times. They can’t hold on to their own personnel.

#1.BALTIMORE RAVENS 12-2 (SAME) Ravens need one more win to clinch homefield advantage throughout the playoffs in the AFC. This week they play the Cleveland Browns who they have lost to earlier in the year. Cleveland is just one gigantic Jerry Springer show right now. Beating the Browns this week would give them two weeks to rest their injured players since the last game of regular season would not mean nothing versus the Steelers. Unless they want to knock out a division rival if Steelers are hanging on to their playoff lives and desperate to win that one. Home-field advantage means you do not have to go to New England or anywhere else. They come to them. Lamar Jackson will be waiting by the front gate.

#2.NEW ORLEANS SAINTS 11-3 (UP 2 SPOTS) The Saints quickly erased their memory from losing in a shootout to the 49ers, last Sunday. The Saints get everything back on track versus the Colts. It was the 10th year anniversary of the Saints’ Superbowl victory over the Colts.

Drew Brees has one of his perfect games with 4 touchdown passes and over 300 yards. With a performance like that he gets the team back on track for their Superbowl mission. Saints still in the run for home-field advantage. Playing the Colts with that performance he breaks former Colts he beat in the Superbowl and Bronco Peyton Manning for all-time touchdown passes thrown now at 539 as Brees is number one in many stat categories. The Saints defense got back on track holding a pretty good Colts offense to only a touchdown.

#3.KANSAS CITY CHIEFS 10-4 (SAME) Can a guy like Terrell Suggs help the Kansas City Chiefs defense?

Released by the Cardinals and was picked up by the Chiefs on waivers. Suggs said he would only play for the Ravens which was the team he was drafted by and called home, until this season where he left and signed with the Cardinals. You can see why he wanted to head back to the Ravens as they might be the beat team in the league. Talking to head coach, Andy Reid, Terrell Suggs is all about the Chiefs. Suggs was not hurt as he played every game for the Cardinals this season. Cardinals’ defensive unit was not the best in the league. Sometimes no winning or player around you can lower your normal numbers. Especially if Suggs took on double teams in Arizona. Suggs will improve the Chiefs defense who have been playing a lot better in the second half of this season. Actually one of the best units in the second half. It will give the Chiefs another guy to go after the quarterback. Suggs probably realized from Andy Reid that Patrick Mahomes is no slouch and Chiefs took down the empire and have beaten the Ravens with Lamar Jackson at quarterback.

#4.SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS 11-3 (DOWN 2 SPOTS) 49ers take a step backwards after they took over the steering wheel last week with the win over the Saints. The 49ers coming in to play the Falcons were ahead of their division and on the road to snag the home-field advantage. Before the 49ers could click their seat belt, the Falcons upended them. Sending them back to the back seat of the car where right now they are in the top wild card position looking up at the Seahawks who they play in week 17. First they have to take on the very desperate Rams team who are clinging on for their dear life. The Rams will be expected to play like an animal trapped in a cage. Ready to kill.

#5.SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 11-3 (UP 1 SPOT)

Just like a snap of the finger, the Seahawks are back and first place in the NFC West with Josh Gordon for the season. Josh Gordon, once again his season will be cut short for violating the NFL substance policy. A wide receiver with a ton of talent still can’t get past the demons that continue to haunt him. Will the Seahawks kick the tires on an Antonio Brown? Seahawks again go on the road and come away with an important victory. One to rebound from the loss they suffered versus the Rams, and it gets them ahead of the 49ers once again.

#6.GREEN BAY PACKERS 11-3 (UP 3 SPOTS) Packers as usual own the Bears, especially bigger games when they meet with things on the line. Bears came in on a roll. They beat some bottom of the barrel teams. Took down Dallas when they were playing despicably. Did the Bears actually have a shot at the playoffs? Slim hopes, but the Packers are always willing to help pull the plug when the Bears are on life support. Great friend north of the border indeed.

Do you think Aaron Rodgers makes rugs out of former Bears quarterbacks? Above is a nice trophy of Jay Cutler skinned alive. He probably did not care. In the shed out back, Rodgers is like a serial killer with quarterbacks from the Bears of the past he played and slayed, just hanging. Mitch Trubisky will be the next victim. It’s that State Farm agent who gives Rodgers theses ideas.

#7.TENNESSEE TITANS 8-6 (DOWN 2 SPOTS) Did the Titans run out of gas right before the finish line? Titans came in as one of the hottest teams in the league and had a home game versus division rival, Texans. Texans came off a big loss the previous week. Titans find themselves in serious trouble losing a close one at home to the Texans. They have a big game versus the Saints this Sunday. Then they have a rematch with the Texans in week 17. If Texans win versus the Buccaneers, then Titans will need help if they lose to the Saints. They will hope the Jets prevail over Steelers. Plus hope the Ravens play their starters versus the Steelers in week 17. If Titans do not make the playoffs, it will be the loss to the Texans that derailed them. They were predicted as one of those scary teams nobody wants to play if the Titans do get in.

#8.BUFFALO BILLS 10-4 (SAME) Bills cemented themselves into the playoffs with their win over the Steelers. A team that at one time had a very long drought of not making the playoffs, has done so now 2 out of the last three seasons. Bills still can improve their playoff berth and go for the division title when they play the Evil Empire this weekend. Patriots won the first match up between these arch rivals. A win would give each team a split in the series and they would both have the same record. Last Sunday night, the Bills played duck duck goose forcing the Steelers quarterback to turn over the ball 4 times in a big win over the Steelers who were trying to leap frog the Bills in the wild card standings. Bills need to slay the Tom Brady dragon that has haunted this team way too long. Patriots lost at home and have lost two in a row. Bills have a good shot. Bills fans are excited about the playoffs. Plus, guys are even breaking away from the Empire to root on the Bills. Of course the rebellion are big Bills fans. Some have been waiting around a long time to get back to the big party in February.

#9. MINNESOTA VIKINGS 10-4 (UP 1 SPOT) Vikings absolutely destroyed the Chargers last Sunday. They made Phillip Rivers a slot machine as he gave up the ball multiple times. Rivers has been a jackpot for the whole league all season long. Did the Vikings victory come at a huge price?

Vikings runningback, Delvin Cook, was hurt in the game and never returned. This could be a big blow to the Vikings offense if he can not play this Monday night when they meet the Packers in Minnesota. Vikings have a chance to get the division with a win and both teams will have the same identical record after that with one game remaining on the schedule after the big bout on Monday night. Kirk Cousins needs a runningback especially in big games.

#10.HOUSTON TEXANS 9-5 (UP 1 SPOT) The Texans were absolutely humiliated by a rookie quarterback, Drew Lock, and the Broncos two weeks back. Texans redeem themselves by beating the Titans in Nashville in a game they needed. They rebounded from the loss and remain in first place in the AFC South at the same time. If they could go to Tampa this weekend and beat them, they might win the division if Titans lose to the Saints. Then that last game versus the Titans in week 17 will not mean anything.

#11.NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 10-4 (DOWN 4 SPOTS) The Evil Empire has lost two in a row. The Chiefs broke the Patriots 21 game home winning streak last Sunday. Can you imagine if the Bills come into New England this weekend and beat them to have a Patriot team lose three in a row? On the week the Rebellion once again take down the First Order Empire, or whatever they go by these days.

#12.PITTSBURGH STEELERS 8-6 (SAME) The Steelers had a chance to leap frog the Buffalo Bills in the Wild card standings but they were GOOSED. The Duck Devlin Hodges’ inexperience came out to play as Buffalo made him feel very uncomfortable on Sunday Night. He threw 4 picks and looked like an undrafted free agent. The Duck suffers his first ever loss behind center. Steelers have won 7 out of 8 since starting 1-4. Their three game winning streak comes to an end. Steelers still hold the second wild card spot, but they need to beat the Jets this week with the Ravens on deck after this Sunday. Ravens could and should have everything wrapped up so that game could be meaningless to the Ravens. Who knows… it’s always good to knock out a division rival so they don’t haunt you in the playoffs. The Steelers defense will feel the extra weight put on their shoulders the rest of the way.

#13.TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS 7-7 (UP 3 SPOTS) The Buccaneers season, I could compare it to the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer has to stop wearing the jockeys. He does not like the feel of the boxers as they ride up on him. That is the same feeling with the Buccaneers season, they were wearing boxers and they were riding up – bunching up and uncomfortable. Once the boxers were removed from the equation things got better for Kramer, and the playoff hopes for the Buccaneers things got better too.

Now Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers are going commando, out there free and enjoying every moment of it. No playoff pressure and they have won 4 in a row. Last Sunday was the Lions they throttled. This weekend can they play playoff spoiler and knock off the Texans?

#14.LA RAMS 8-6 (DOWN 1 SPOT) Rams seem to be back on track these recent weeks. They took down Seattle. The defense was playing better. The offense was looking like last season as the team was scoring and moving the ball. Then they played Dallas, a team many thought were dead in the water. Cowboys hurt the Rams playoff chase with their beatdown. Rams made the score closer in garbage time. Rams need a lot of help if they want to sneak into the playoffs. The division title hopes will not happen. Rams will need the wild card route. They need the Vikings to go down in flames the next two weeks. Rams will also need to win out. The Superbowl loss and the hangover the following season, is for real.

#15.CHICAGO BEARS 7-7 (DOWN 1 SPOT) Bears had a chance to tie Green Bay at the very end of the game with the final play. It was not a Hail Mary pass. It was more of a short pass, catch the ball and keep flipping it back until you find the end zone. One more flip would have done it, but the man was tackled inside the five yard line. Bears would have still needed to convert a two point conversion to just tie the game to send it to overtime. If Aaron Rodgers was doing the same play for the Packers, it would have worked. Another year & another late game in the year where there’s a big game between the Bears and Packers with playoff implications on the line and Packers prevail. Bears are officially eliminated. I will be curious how Mitch Trubisky will do the rest of the year? The Bears play Chiefs and Vikings. Both teams looking to move up a seed or Vikings are trying to still get in the playoffs. Does Mitch play better with the playoff monkey off his back? If he does play well with no pressure, I think this team needs to get another veteran quarterback to compete with him next season. His struggles this season are why this team regressed after winning the division last season.

#16.ATLANTA FALCONS 5-9 (UP 4 SPOTS)

Remember Kyle Shanahan? Falcon fans sure do. He was the offensive coordinator for the Falcons when the Evil Empire made that epic comeback in the Superbowl. Many would say his play-calling in the second half of that Superbowl was the X-factor of the Patriots coming back and taking a Superbowl title that was in the Atlanta Falcons hands at the time. In a season going nowhere for the Falcons. Is a win over the 49ers, a team that Kyle Shanahan is the head coach of, worth anything to you? A little revenge dish served cold you can say. The Falcons’ upset knocked the 49ers to second place in their division. 49ers before the Falcons game were in command of the division after coming away with a huge win over the Saints. They were even eyeballing home-field advantage for which they were on the right path. Now with the loss to the Falcons, the Saints are back on track to get the home-field throughout. Sometimes you have to help your enemy to settle the score with others.

#17.PHILADELPHIA EAGLES 7-7 (UP 1 SPOT) If you are the Eagles, do you call up Jacksonville and make a trade to bring back Nick Foles? This is where Nick Foles is his best. The best part-time quarterback in the league and late in the season is when he shines. Eagles are limping to the finish line. They meet up with the Cowboys team that has been horrible until last week. Cowboys and Eagles square off this week with the division on the line. Eagles lost the first meeting between the teams. Carson Wentz has to play out of his mind and go Nick Foles all over the Cowboys for his own safety. Earlier in the year, they were burning Wentz jerseys. If he loses to the Cowboys twice, especially with the playoffs on the line, people in Philly will be banging on his door with torches and pitchforks. If Carson Wentz could lead the Eagles to the playoffs, with beer man lining up as one of the receivers, he will build his own little legacy. They say great quarterbacks make their receivers better.

#18.DALLAS COWBOYS 7-7 (UP 4 SPOTS) This is another team that just has too much going on outside the football stadium. Should Jerry Jones still be running all the day-to-day affairs for the Cowboys? Former Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman, was the one who criticized his former owner. Then you have the weekly chatter about Jason Garrett’s future like some soap opera on General Hospital. Should he be fired or not? Then Jerry Jones throws in his two cents as well. Cowboys finally broke a three game losing streak. The second one of the year they have been through. They killed the Rams who have a winning record. That’s a first for the year, a win versus a team with a winning record. Here we go again with this team. They play the Eagles this Sunday and a win they are in. Now with the win, everyone has a hard-on for this team as they are a team that should automatically be penciled into the Superbowl. They have talent, but they are not what they are hyped up to be. Why are the Cowboys on every week? Seriously you would think this team is from your city, as their broadcast appears more than your own team in the city you live in. It’s like Nazi propaganda as they sink thoughts in your brain about the Cowboy way and how they are the best team in the NFL.

#19.ARIZONA CARDINALS 4-9-1 (UP 5 SPOTS) It was Heisman vs Heisman and both went to the same university and played on the same team when they squared off against each other last Sunday. Kyler Murray vs Baker Mayfield who both played at Oklahoma University. Both of them went back to back years, winning the award. Cardinals win with a pretty good performance by their Heisman winner Kyler Murray. However it was Kenyan Drake that stole the show with his 4 touchdown day. All on the ground as he sliced and diced the Browns defense with his feet for 137 yards. Last time a Cardinal rushed for 4 scores was back in 1993. Rookie Ronald Moore in 1993 scored 4 TD’s in early December game when the team was known as the Phoenix Cardinals. Cardinals snap a six game losing streak. Kenyan Drake came over from the Dolphins in a mid-season trade broke a personal 14 game losing streak he was in both teams combined. Patrick Peterson snared his 25th interception of all-time.

#20.CLEVELAND BROWNS 6-8 (DOWN 5 SPOTS) Another clunker of a loss for the Browns. Baker Mayfield loses the Oklahoma Heisman bowl with him versus Kyler Murray of the Cardinals. Both were teammates and won the award in back to back years. With the Browns loss, the team is now 6-8 with two games remaining. Which will ensure yet another season the Browns will not have a winning season. That is a whole decade of losing seasons from 2010-19. They are the only NFL team during that span to come away with zero seasons of winning. Every other team at least has one or more seasons they could say they won more games than lost. More drama for the Browns. This time it’s Jarvis Landry and Freddie Kitchens having a heated exchange of words on the sideline late in the game last Sunday.

A Browns fan got a tattoo on his arm of the Myles Garrett incident versus the Steelers with the helmet swing coming down on Mason Rudolph’s head.

Mom would be so proud of her son.

#21.INDIANAPOLIS COLTS 6-8 (DOWN 4 SPOTS) First half success for the Colts after Andrew Luck retired, this team looked playoff bound. Then the wheels fell off the Colts bus and they have been in a tailspin the whole second half of the season. On Monday night, Colts looked like a beaten team. The white towel has landed on the canvas. It was the team’s fourth straight loss. They have lost six out the last seven games. The Saints needed to rebound and the Colts took the beating like a pledge student pledging for a frat house.

Drew Brees dished out the punishment. Jacoby Brissett has played well this year taking over for Andrew Luck. He has had some clunkers. Sometimes he’s more a game manager then a guy that will chuck the ball down the field and win you a game with his arm. The Colts just signed Chad Kelly to their practice squad. Kelly was cut in Denver for off-the-field issues last year. It might be time to unleash another Kelly into the league. Chad is the nephew of Hall of Fame quarterback, Jim Kelly. Chad has a big arm and he’s built like his Uncle Jim but probably taller. In college when Chad played and was not sidelined for off-the-field stuff he had flashes of NFL stuff. Who can get the best out of Chad? Colts Head Coach Frank Reich who is great friends with his uncle Jim. Plus he backed up Jim Kelly for years in Buffalo. Let’s see if they have a diamond in the ruff with two meaningless games left to throw him in to the mix. The kid deserves another chance.

#22.DENVER BRONCOS 5-9 (UP 1 SPOT) Drew Lock came back down to earth from his big game two weeks ago versus the Texans. Broncos could not do much versus a Chiefs defense as they only mustered up a field goal. At one point in the game, Travis Kelce had more receiving yards than the whole Broncos offense and it was into the 4th quarter. Weather conditions did not help either offense in this contest. In two games this year, the Chiefs outscored the Broncos 53-9.

Von Miller now just needs one more sack and he will be in the 25 of all-time at bringing quarterbacks to their knees.

#23.CAROLINA PANTHERS 5-9 (DOWN 2 SPOTS)

Christian McCaffrey is the first ever Panther to eclipse 200 yards from scrimmage which is the good. The bad is another loss by the Panthers. That is six in a row. Plus Kyle Allen continues to make mistakes in a three interception game. He’s forcing some plays and obviously trying to do too much where mistakes are occurring. Seattle got off to a good lead. The Panthers did come back and make this into a game. Now the ugly Cam Newton still wants to be the Panthers quarterback next season. Oh the humanity.

#24.WASHINGTON REDSKINS 3-11 (UP 1 SPOT) Washington is playing much better these days. You scratch your head over how a Eagle team, with many of their play-makers from the streets or the practice squad, beats you last Sunday in a shoot out. Dwayne Haskins is definitely improving behind center giving Redskins fans hope for next season. Haskins had two touchdown passes, one a 75 yard throw to Scary Terry McLaurin. Scary Terry, a nice bright spot this season, finished 5 grabs 130 yards with the TD. The Redskins made to battle the Eagles the whole way in this contest that meant a lot for the Eagles. A few field goals were made by the Redskins. On nice drives that were halted. You figure Haskins will eventually start turning more drives into touchdowns than just settling for the field goal. Adrian Peterson’s rushing touchdown in the 4th quarter ties the great Walter Payton for 4th with 110 ground assault scores.

#25.OAKLAND RAIDERS 6-8 (DOWN 6 SPOTS) Raiders take the plunge. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, I would say to the Raiders if I lived in Oakland. To blow a 16-3 lead in the second half to the crappy Jaguar team in the very last game in Oakland is just pathetic. Vegas or bust get out of Oakland.

Oakland and other mutant-looking toys, probably from the misfit island of toys, ends Chucky before he gets on that bus to Vegas.

#26.JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS 5-9 (UP 1 SPOT)

The Godfather of the Jaguars organization. The first ever head coach of the franchise. He guided the expansion Jaguars to the playoffs for the first time ever. Tom Coughlin had a good run from 1995-2002. Some great teams they had during that span. Coughlin came back to the Jaguars after coaching the New York Giants for 12 seasons. He was hired as the Executive VP of football operations. Since the Jaguars were in the championship game a few seasons ago, the team has been in disarray. Jaguars fired Coughlin which should be a major house cleaning about to go down in Jacksonville. Tom Coughlin has that tough love leadership style. With the group assembled in Jacksonville being a bunch of thugs, it did not go well with players. Many fines passed out by Coughlin. Many grievances filed by the players to their union. The salary cap has major issues and it will take a major house cleaning. Perhaps they should get some dynamite and blow it up all together. Next on the agenda after the season, get rid of Doug Marone because he is useless. You need a fixer who can clean up this crime scene as they roll Marone out in a rug.

The Wolf could make these players disappear as well. The Jaguars need to sell what they can and get whatever draft picks teams will offer. A full rebuild is the only way.

#27.LA CHARGERS 5-9 (DOWN 2 SPOTS) Chargers still get people excited like when they throttled the Jaguars last week. The thought process has been see these are the Chargers from last season. It’s not happening and the Chargers from last year are gone. These are your new Chargers. Phillip Rivers had another three interceptions, as the Vikings did the same thing to what the Chargers did to the Jaguars a week ago. Plenty of mistakes all around for the Chargers. A very undisciplined group as stupid penalties continue. WHAT’S A MELVIN?

Melvin Gordon, a hold out before the season even started. Another two fumbles versus the Vikings. Mr. I want a new contract for more money which back fired in your face. Your lucky if a team next year gives you change from one of their couches they way he has performed.

#28.NEW YORK GIANTS 3-11 (SAME) Will Eli Manning’s farewell tour be like the Rolling Stones and continue to play every year? Eli Manning can not holster his football talent for years to come like musicians who can tour until the fans stop buying concert tickets. We don’t know if Eli Manning will return next season. If he does he would be in another uniform and could be destined to play a back up role. Last Sunday was his last home game for the Giants. Manning goes out on a high note as the Giants snapped a very long losing streak of nine games. Eli Manning brought down the house and gets a standing ovation right at the end. Manning, a two time Superbowl MVP, who has been a Giant for 16 seasons.

#29.NEW YORK JETS 5-9 (SAME) Jets got blown out by the Ravens last Thursday night. Many teams can say they had the same result. Jets did get 21 points in this contest in a short week on the last scheduled Thursday night game of the year. Jamison Crowder had two touchdown catches on six grabs for 90 yards. That is 5 total receiving touchdowns in 2019 for Crowder. In a roller coaster year at times where Jets play well and/or just lay duds, Crowder might be a piece in place with the young second year quarterback in Sam Darnold. Jets run defense is a strength as well. Is running Le’Veon Bell right for the future? Getting rid of him would open up a chunk of salary on the cap. Is head coach Adam Gase the right guy to bring this team from the bottom to be competing every week and beyond? Some off season stuff on the Jets to do list. They need to find themselves with some heavy thought processes.

#30.DETROIT LIONS 3-10-1 (DOWN 2 SPOTS) Lions have dropped seven in a row. They lost 10 out of their last 11. Buccaneers piled up 38 points on the Lions’ weakest link… the defense. Lions were in the game, but after a slow start come back, then the wheels fell off was the format in this one. Former Lion’s son Breshard Perriman plays for the Buccaneers and had his best game of his short career versus his dad’s old team.

Brett Perriman played for the Lions in the 1990’s and he was one of the greats as a receiver in the NFL and the city of Detroit. He is suffering from dementia these days. His son had a monster day hauling three touchdown passes just like some of the games his father had wearing sliver and blue. Lions always had some great receivers watching them play the Bears all these years, twice a year. Herman Moore was on the other side of Brett Perriman and was just a tall skyscraper on the field.

Moore could go high in the air, grab most balls away and beat his defender. Lions always loved the tall receivers as fans will remember Calvin Johnson aka Megatron who they drafted later on. Johnson went on to have a hell of a career himself.

#31.MIAMI DOLPHINS 3-11 (DOWN 1 SPOT) What ever happened to “I’m taking my talents to south beach?” Does that not apply to football and the Miami Dolphins? The one talent Miami Dolphins do have and is worth building around, is their wide receiver, DeVante Parker.

The Dolphins extended Parker’s contract which will keep him in Miami. He scored two touchdowns last Sunday. Dolphins were back to play, only one half of the football mentality last Sunday as they had the halftime lead. Then in the second half they got blown out.

I think next year the league should assign Ryan Fitzpatrick to play for the Patriots next season to punish them for yet another scandal. He becomes their starting QB for the whole year. This will get those dirty cheating bastards to stop their Big Brother eye in the sky campaign. Plus it gives Ryan Fitzpatrick a jersey from each team in the AFC East as he would have played for them all at one point or another in his long career.

#32.CINCINNATI BENGALS 1-13 (SAME) Are the Bengals playing better football these days? Why is the Evil Empire like Big Brother watching the Bengals and taping them?

Bill Belichick and those perverts over in New England are not even watching the good stuff – THE CHEER LEADERS. The Football team has you wasting digital space with your camera.

Meanwhile Bengals are still holding down the number one draft pick with their loss to the New England Patriots. They played well in the first half. In the second half it seems like the Patriots knew what play the Bengals were going to run. Like if Billy Boy was in the huddle with the Bengals or called it in himself.
